Meeting old friends

Gretchen, Ashleigh, & Bethany

Sometimes, in this world of pen pals and e-pals, when you finally meet someone in person, you feel like you’re meeting an old friend. It all feels so natural you forget that you’ve never actually met before. (And when you try to explain whom you’re going out to dinner with, it all sounds rather funny.)

Such was the case when I finally got to meet Ashleigh and Bethany. It was a beautiful southern California evening in January…perfect for a stroll down to the pier for dinner…meeting friends…and talking a mile a minute.

I’d known Ashleigh’s best girlfriend Bethany for years…as Ashleigh had known my best girlfriend Natalie. But it’s only been within the past year that I’ve become acquainted with Ashleigh and we’ve found out how much we have in common as mommies. Little Merritt seemed a bit in awe of meeting Big Merritt, but considering how well Little Merritt and Ruth Ann got along, that’s probably a good thing!

It was a fun evening, that like the sunset that night, went much too quickly. But we parted with plans to meet again…thanking God for the precious gift of kindred fellowship…

I look forward to the day when I shall meet my e-friends, especially my Sisters of the Heart who do a weekly accountability group with me.

What fun to get together and have the two Merritt’s meet each other for the first time (not to mention Gretchen and Ashleigh meeting each other too!) I would have loved to have been there… it looks like you all had a great time together! Merritt and Ruth Ann are so cute together; they look like they could be twins almost!
    Blessings,

Oh how fun! I have always enjoyed meeting my pen pals. I have traveled to WA and Ontario to meet two of my pen pals. The others I met along the way while traveling around the States on furlough.

Thanks for sharing the story and pictures.
